How to Choose a Patient Monitor
Bedside monitors look similar on a spec sheet. These four points separate them in practice.

Parameter set. A 5-parameter monitor covers ECG, SpO2, NIBP, respiration and temperature. If you run theatre or high-dependency cases you will also want capnography (EtCO2) and invasive blood pressure, so check whether the monitor supports them and whether that is an upgrade or a different model.
Modular or fixed. A modular monitor lets you add parameters later. A fixed-configuration unit is cheaper up front but locks your capability on day one.
Central station support. If you plan to network beds to a nursing station, confirm the monitor supports it and what the station costs. Retro-fitting this is expensive.
Consumables. SpO2 probes, NIBP cuffs and ECG leads are recurring costs. Ask whether the monitor takes standard consumables or proprietary ones stocked only by the manufacturer.
